I was going to title this “Why I always INSIST on an engagement shoot”, but that sounds harsh. And its really not necessary to ‘insist’, as when I explain to couples why it’s important, they almost always agree. And who would turn down a free shoot?
But it really IS important, for a few reasons. The LEAST important reason is, its nice to have engagement portraits. I always give a free 8×10 of your favorite one, which looks great at the wedding on the placecard table.
More important is this: I don’t want my couples on their wedding day to be nervous, thinking “Are my photos going to be good?” or “I hope I look OK”, or “Is this guy cutting my head off?” LOL
Once you have the experience of an engagement shoot under your belt you’ll be MUCH more relaxed on your wedding day! Its just Lou with his camera again! Been there, done that.
And the converse of that is true:
I don’t want to find out on your wedding day that one of you blinks a lot in photos, or looks away at the last second, or any of the other things people often do that can hurt your wedding photos. If there are any peculiarities or concerns about photographing you, I want to know BEFORE the wedding day!
Nobody has ever regretted having their engagement photo session!
Call me. You’ll be delighted. I promise!
